A Creative Difference

Celebration Covenant Church is an adventure for the whole family, according g to Pastor Keith Craft, and the adventure is extending into Saturday night.
Beginning May 7, Celebration Covenant Church, a non-traditional, inter-denominational church, will offer Saturday evening services from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
“Saturday night will be an identical service to the Sunday morning service. It will have the same energy, action and technology as the Sunday service. This unique approach to church will give people all of Sunday off to spend time with their family,” Craft said.
According to Craft, Celebration Covenant Church “does church a lot differently,” using the latest technology to enhance the worship experience.
“We believe that the church ought to be the most creative place in the universe. One of our core values is creativity and innovation. W see church as a unique experience that cannot only dramatically improve one’s life, but can help take one’s life to another level.” Craft said.
Celebration Covenant Church attempts to present Jesus to the world in a very creative way utilizing music, media and technology and the Bible.
“Our services are flavored with creative lighting, fantastic sound and multi-media presentations using Pixar-type 3D animations,” Craft explained.
One example of the way in which Celebration Covenant Church incorporates creativity and innovation into the worship experience is its recent Easter Sunday services, which Craft described as a “Cirque du Soleil-type” presentation of the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Easter services overflowed with over 1,900 people, and Craft said the Saturday services will give people greater options for attending church during the weekend.

Additionally, this year Celebration Covenant Church is spending $250,000 on its children’s area, called Surge. The two-story room will resemble a power plant and is being designed by artists who designed Disney World and Disney Land attractions and the church’s nursery room, which features dramatic mural paintings and 3D objects. Motion graphics, interactive technology and 3D construction will create a special environment for children in first through sixth grades, explained Michael Dean, creative media director at Celebration Covenant.
“We want to create an atmosphere where people can have an experience with God, and that includes children. They like participating in fun games and interactive group singing,” Dean said.
Teenagers also have a special place at Celebration Covenant. “Xcel” a student ministry for seventh through twelfth grades, exposes teenagers to God’s Word in language relevant to them. It also engages students in live music, worship and drama.
“We really emphasize children and their creative and spiritual development,” Craft said.
Xcel recently began meeting on Sunday nights at Celebration Covenant’s main sanctuary. Previously, it had been meeting at Stonebriar AMC 24.
“They get the benefit of the movie screens, intelligent lighting and sound system in the main sanctuary. Being onsite at the church allows us to have a place to hang out after service. They can buy pizza and play on the basketball court,” Dean explained.
Keith Craft and his wife Sheila extend an invitation to everyone in the community to come experience a Sunday morning or Saturday night service at Celebration Covenant, located at 8500 Teel Parkway in Frisco.
Sunday service times are 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. |
